Chris Christianson

Like to play with words? Brother Chris Christianson certainly does and he challenges my thinking everytime I open an e-mail from him. The following word plays are "semi-forms" of both the Haiku and Renga as descended from the Tanka. If you are interested in learning more about these types of writings try the following sites: Japanese glossary and AHA Poetry.com.

Besides the Japanese poetry forms, I'd also recommend googling "concrete poetry" for poetry that depends on its typographical presentation to enhance its meaning. For more concrete poetry on this site, check out Arthur Peterson.

Brother Christianson writes: Bro. Gerald, the below versions are more visually accurate. The second is the most accurate it can be in two dimensions, but the least understandable. I sort of like "Semi-ku" for something honoring the tradition, but not following the rules of Haiku.
