Job's Daughters

Look into my scrapbook and see
all the picture of my friends and me
We have so much fun
yet the work of our Order is never done
We're Jobs Daughters
fair and true.
We have a beautiful story
we'd like to share with you
Our Order is founded on the Open book
We'd advise you take a look
Jobs story is full of hope
Jobs story is full of pain
This story may teach you
if you keep your faith in God
there's much to gain
We hold Jobs story close to our hearts
We ponder it while apart
Many friendships have been made
Many futures have been paved
So I pray for another day
In that day
I hope to find
a new friend to share
this beautiful order of mine

This interesting piece was forwarded by Brother Randy Bell by way of Brother Bill Hickey.
gsl.

Brother Bill writes "In Job's Daughters, we have a tradition that one girl delivers an original composition called the "Librarian's Report". Many girls simply don't have the time or confidence in their creativity, so they use relatively short pieces that they find by reading various books. Last night, we had our Junior Past Honored Queen act as the librarian, and she put together the following piece. While it talks about "sisters" I think we all can see just how the masonic influence is acting on some of our young people. Oh, our PHQ just graduated from high school last May and is 18."

Who Are You?

What is a friend?
A friend is someone
Who's always there for you.
In times of both good and bad,
A friend is someone
Who's there to help you thorugh.
It shall not matter if they made you sad,
A friend is someone
Who's special in every single way,
I can honestly say.
A friend is someone
Who has the tool to make you smile each and every day.
A friend is someone I found today!

What is a sister?
A sister is someone
With a bond that will never end!
When it seems you know each other much too well,
A sister is someone
Who has the power to make every problem mend
Her deepest secrets you must not tell,
A sister is someone
With the vengeance of a rattlesnake!
The two of you seem to need each other,
A sister is someone
Whose heart you must not break!
For sometimes, our bond doesn't rquire the same mother.

How do you know someone is special?
You know that someone is special to you when
You cannot wait to see them again!
We are all special to someone, but
You know that someone is special to you when
You seem to forgive their every sin!
The doors of opportunity might shut, but,
You know that someone is special to you when
Just a simple little talking to them,
Makes you feel all good again!
Don't ever disillusion yourself,
Keep those close to you near your heart,
You know that someone is special to you when
You find yourself with the most special grin
Until the daring day you part!

Job's Daughters PHQ

Got this wonderful piece from Brother Russell Wagner from Lake Worth, Florida. He is putting together a CD-ROM on Masonry and it should be ready soon. His daughter Tiffany Ann is age 11 and wrote the following poem. Who could resist!

Rainbow Girls

Over the hills and across the sky,
Where eagles and birds love to fly,
Lies a secret to behold
Of many stories, never told.
That is the bow in the sky
Held by God, up ever so high.
At the end lays a pot of gold
None of which is ever sold.
For the gold is more than meets the eye;
Deep within, futures lie.
The souls of young girls, you see,
That gold belongs to you and me.
As we learn each lesson taught,
Teachers are ladies who care a lot.
All our hard work will continue to pay,
For in our hearts these lessons stay.
We make our self happy and proud,
A quiet joy, never loud.
Without these times full of fun,
Many things we could have never done.
So I ask and so I pray
That there will be another day.
I will help each girl, If I may,
So they too, can find their way.
Along the road of life we know all too well,
To find the gold that no one sells.
Our daughters-daughters will continue to be
Rainbow Girls, like you and me.

age 11

The following are from the 1974 Job's Daughters' music ritual, first compiled in 1922.

Open The Gates Of The Bethel

words by Ella Falkenheimer, P.S.G.
based on "Open The Gates Of The Temple"

Open the gates of the Bethel
With joy as we sing our sweet lay.
Open your hearts, oh, ye Daughters,
That love may enter today.
Hark to the sounds of rejoicing
As Love, Peace and Joy ever reign.
Voices with gladness and rapture are swelling
And carry the happy refrain.
Voices with gladness and rapture are swelling
With joy, with joy again.

Open the gates of the Bethel
For the fairest Daughters today.
Open your hearts to the Saviour,
That Love dwells with us alway.
Praying for meekness and Patience
With Faith in the Lord Divine.
Voices with gladness and rapture are swelling
In tune with the heavenly chime
Voices with gladness and rapture are swelling
With joy, with joy sublime.

Bethel Flag Song

by Rose Marston, P.G.G.

This beautiful symbolic flag
Shall in each Bethel stand.
An emblem of our order for
The fairest in the land.
We love the purple and the white,
We'll keep our flag unfurled
And hope, some day, to see it wave,
In peace throughout the world.

I Would Be True

H.R.Walter

I would be true for there are those who trust me,
I would be pure for there are those who care.
I would be strong for there is strength in loving,
I would be brave for there is much to dare.

I would be kind to all, the foe, the friendless.
I would be giving and forget the gift.
I would be humble for I know love strengthens,
I would look up and laugh and love and lift.

Welcome Song

Rose Marston, P.G.G.

Welcome, welcome you are now Job's Daughters
And the fairest in the land.
In our Bethel you'll have friends and sisters
Who will lend a help hand.

Welcome, welcome to our Bethel
We're Job's Daughters kind and true.
We're so glad you've come to join us
And we hope you'll like us too.

Mothers', Fathers, And Guardians' Prayer Song

by Edith Craigmile

Keep Thou our Mothers, Lord, safe in Thy care.
Be ever near to them this is our prayer.
Guide, Thou, our Fathers and our Guardians too.
May we their counsel seek in all we do.

Here at Thy Altar, Lord, on bended knee,
We ask that Thou will teach us so to be
That when the Bethel door on high swings wide
We'll gladly gather there close by Thy side.
Amen.

Now Our Work Is Over

Sabine Baring-Gould
based on "Now The Day Is Over."

Now our work is over
Saviour guide our hands
Daughters of the Bethel,
Fairest in the land.

Dear Lord give Thy children
Calm and sweet repose
With Thy tend'rest blessing,
May our Bethel close.
Amen.

Guide Us Father

by Olive James, P.G.G.

Oh guide us, Father, teach us, love us,
As we kneel in prayer.
Each flower and each unfolding leaf
Tells of they loving care.
